Hi! Does anyone have high blood pressure that they think or have been told that it is related to Behcet’s! I am in the ER for the first time ever with high blood pressure (185/105). My BP my entire life has run pretty low, 120/70. I am wondering if this could be due to vasculitis of Behcets. Any thoughts?

High blood pressure
I have had Behcets since I was 18 then got high BP at 36 ( runs in family ) but have never been told they are connected still have both at 58
This is not the complete answer and I am sure someone will get back to you who has had some direct experience of the issue but please see BSS Medical Fact Sheet No 10 which makes slight reference to Blood Pressure. Ideally should be kept within normal range. And your normal range seems to have changed. Suggest you refer whomever is treating you to this information as a start. There is an implied reference to it within FS No 6. Hope this is of some help.
Thank you! I wasn’t aware of the BSS, great website!
i think its due to stress. I was running that high every time i went to the doctors. Google white coat syndrome. especially since you just said ER...sounds like things arent so great.
meditate with soft nature music at night, concentrate on breathing and positive thoughts, thats all i did when they were figuring out my diagnosis. other than that- valium or ativan is really helpful too.
Thank you so much for your reply but it’s definitely not white coat....(I know it well as I used to work as a researcher on white coat hypertension and have always had normal BP’s in Doctor and hospital settings). I’ve been having symptoms of HTN for the past month (pounding heart, dizziness, SOB on exertion etc) that led me to the ER yesterday when it truly exacerbated.
So, I forgot to mention that I’ve also had flank pain on and off for the past month. They admitted me last night and in addition to seeing a cardiologist and having an echo, they are setting up a consult with a nephrologist because of the behcets and recent flank pain.
Absolutely! Thank you....
