Sore tongue
Yes swollen at the root of the tongue and very sore down one side. Eating can be a bit of a challenge so tend to do soup and soft food. Dr don't have any idea why or what.
A painful swollen tongue is often the first sign of a flare for me. But it is not a surface soreness like thrush but a deeper soreness, as though a crop of big boils is forming along the side of the tongue. It makes the whole side of my face ache, my eye streams, my ear aches and I often feel headachy, feverish and fluey with it. Occasionally ulcers break through but more often the pain recedes before ulcers come right out. I guess I am lucky in that respect. I can usually see and feel a 'head' or several.
Colchicine improved it for a year, but recently it is wearing off and I am getting the problem again. It wipes me out for about a week and occurs every 4 to 8 weeks. Ibuprofen helps with the pain a bit, but I am going to talk to the doc about something longer lasting
Someone mentioned using a brown steroid asthma inhaler on the tongue, and I shall also try this.
