Hair falling out
Hi Chrissie, I don't know if it is the meds although I was on this myself at one stage and I know many others are who I am sure will respond to your question but I do t reall any hair loss. We do all loses hair daily and illness stress and medications can make our bodies respond in different ways including a little extra hair loss, nail weakness and even skin conditions . Try not to worry and stress and I'm sure it will help if you can relax a little each day. If you are really concerned please do go to your GP for reassurance .

When I first started taking Aza, my hair did seem to fall out a lot more when I brushed it. After a while the extra hair falling out stopped. It wasn't a huge amount anyway, so no need to panic. Hope this help. C x

Mines hasnt started going yet that I notice IM at like week 3 I think it is on aza. Though the grey is slowly invading...
I had lots of hairloss and it also going grey when on Azathioprine. Hair loss is one of the side effects of this drug and when I took it, it lasted for a certain amount of time but evened out.
Have a look at this link which show this as a side effect and if it is too bad you may need to discuss it with your Dr/Consultant.

Hope this helps
Hi! I know this can be a side effect of Aza, but I've been on this now for 3 months and not experienced this myself .. the good news is that it is working too! Keep an eye on things but try not to worry too much - you've had enough to deal with. If you need extra reassurance then I'm sure the clinic that are looking after you won't mind an e-mail or phone call. Good luck and keep us updated! X
I can totally sympathise. My hair started to fall out last year. I had had a baby and also started Aza. Hair loss double whammy! I dreaded washing and drying it as there were hair balls everywhere! I knew I had lost a lot but could only really tell when it started to grow back in. I seem to have very strange hair these days. My new hair is really curly and is underneath the longer straighter hair. However, the good news is that the hair loss did stop!!
Now I just need to learn how to blow dry a "reverse mullet"!!
