Glad I'm not alone in this , it's hard to work out what is the illness and what could be something else

Hi, actually had a conversation about something similar the other day. We must all be careful not to blame everything on BD as we could be missing something else maybe just as important . Having said this here is my story. I have suffered with tummy problems all my life, and BD for 28 years. About 6 years ago my tummy became intolerable, waking screaming in the night almost constant pain, many many impactions. My GP and Rheumy were doing their best but all to no avail. A concerned friend of mine made a suggestion and back then I would have tried anything...beating in mind I'm not a pill taking, alternative med kind of person!!!!lol. But, needs must, she suggested stopping bread....I did this for a month and the results were certainly in

the right direction. Noticed from other food s I ate that it didn't seem to be the flour etc. after trial and error found in my case my problems were due to the YEAST and YEAST extracts in almost all foods. I cut out all this and for 4 years did not knowingly take any yeast, yeast extract, powders etc. and all this time NO more bloating, pains or impactions. In the last six months I have started to eat bread again bit only from a local baker ( not supermarket brand bread). I am absolutely fine now and I go to the toilet at least every other day....I also lost weight and it continues to be stable. I am eating bread again because a little fresh yeast is actually good for us hence local baker!!!

This is just advice and my own story. Hope it helps in someway.

Hugs and smiles to all

Billi

Thank you for the reply , I'm going to try and knock out bread from today as that's another nights sleep I've lost to an upset tummy :(

Hi

I agree with everything Billi said, my meds for BD seemed to be working fine and then I started getting really bad stomach pains. After reading various suggestions on websites I too cut out bread but most of all marmite (which I used to eat everyday). It almost cured the problem overnight, so I agree you could have a yeast intolerance issue.

Hi yes I have had this and eventually put it down to the raising agents in bread + cake products. # Have cut down on all of these and now have it under control. Just a tip Look out for any raising agent or even a strong spice in any bread or ready meal product~~ that's what gave me a bloated pregnant tum with pain ~ : ) MFG
