Iv recently started suffering with bad headaches/migraines. Major throbbing on one side. Iv never suffered with this, and have had behcets for ten years. Is it linked with my behcets or something else?! Anyone else suffered with this?

Hi Dezie
Unfortunately headaches are common with Behcets and it is a subject we have discussed a lot on this forum. If you put the word "Headache" in the search box on the top righthand side, you will get lots of the discussions we have had before.
Also the Behcets Society Neurologist Dr Kidd wrote an advice sheet about headaches under this link

Hope this helps

Hi Dezie
You are not alone. I have been getting severe one sided headaches for a long time. Twice I have ended up in hospital because the pain was so bad. I had one brain scan that showed a small amount of vasculitis (swelling) but all my other tests and scans have shown nothing! I have been put on a high does of Amitriptyline to take at night and this has really helped. I still get headaches but not as debillitating as before. I also take regular Naproxen (an anti-imflammatory) when I feel once coming and this helps a little.
Hope you find something to help you soon.
Hugs
Angela

Hi there,
Yes it certainly happens.
Had one last week down side of my head that could only be relieved by strong counterpressure of me pressing that side of my head against the floor. I generally need to be close to a bucket too.
I use sumatriptan (take it and stay still in bed for at least 1hr to give it a chance, I generally fall asleep which is best thing), bucastem for the nausea and lavender oil to help relax shoulder tension caused by the pain.
I wake up pain-free, feeling a little fragile but always desperate for a chicken tikka.
Beau.
Hi Dezie,
The head symptoms were my daughters first symptom, they started when she was 5 years. Just horrible. She normally finds sleep is the best medicine.
Good luck.
Hi Dezie
Yes unfortunatly I too suffer from bad headaches and migraines
Like Angela, I am on amytriptyline, naproxen daily and when pain is just too much I take Tramadol which can help take the edge off. I also meditate which helps a bit too.
Hope you are helped to find something that will work for you

Hi,
I too suffer headaches and migraines. Was in hospital back in March this year with really bad migraine. Scans came back clear which was a relief. Am also on amatriptyline daily and take Sumatriptan when I need to, to make migraine less severe.

Just found this old post....I find it much harder to search the posts since the site changes.
I just lost 5 days in bed in a dark room with a one sided headache. It ebbed and flowed and I was taking naproxen and extra amitriptyline on top of my preventative dose. I had facial weakness, numbness and tingling. It was bloody awful.
I have suffered migraine for about 5 years successfully controlled with Ritzatrapan....but the headache has mutated and the wafers no longer work.
I've read the factsheets and intend to seek better preventative meds but are there any more tips out there?
Best wishes to all. Love Jill x
