I'm new to the pill and i was wondering if it's okay starting combined pill on the 2nd day of period?

Is it okay to start taking the combined pill on the 2nd day of period or would you recommend me waiting till my next period and taking it on the 1st day? Are there any issues I could get from starting it a day later? Main reason is for bad cramps, diarrhea and heavy bleeding for the first 2/3 days of my period. Just some background: I've had these pills prescribed a couple months ago, but have been delaying starting them, as I was very anxious to begin and wanted to take them when I felt ready.

You can start them on day 2 or even after your period if you use extra contraception for the first 7 days.

you can take your pills up to day 5 of your new cycle and be protected straight away. Any later in your cycle you have to use protection for the first 7 days after starting
