I have a problem with my Anus. I thought it was a yeast infection as it burns constantly. Have had a course of triptovate cream which started working then made my bum red raw.
I have used daktarin which was rubbish.
I am now on fluconazole 50mg capsules 7 day course and a I thought I was getting better up until the 6th day! Then I all flared up again.
Not sure now if it’s a yeast infection or bacterial and doctors have seen me once and done no tests!
This is starting to really affect my mental health and I really need some help.

No. It all started when I went for a hike. I came back with this burn and thought it was just chaffing. But it definitely wasn’t. There is some redness but most of it you can’t see anything!! It’s so frustrating! And because GPs really don’t want to see patience it’s a living nightmare. I am moving countries soon and I need to be there for my girlfriend but I can’t with this at the moment. It’s really getting me down.
You need to go back to your doctor for them to determine what is going on, and possibly do tests I'd they feel or necessary.
If your doctor sent you away with a prescription on your last visit, or with advice on what to try, and you've not returned, then your doctor would assume that it's cleared up. The onus is on you to go back to them if your symptoms still persist.
Make an appointment to see the doctor again. In the meantime I can only suggest making sure you keep the area clean and dry, possibly try a weak salt water solution to prevent any infection if there are any open wounds or damaged skin in that area.
That’s if they will see you. In Scotland they won’t even see you face to face! I have had no tests. All I have had is drugs thrown at me from pharmacist and then gp! It is so overwhelming and I am struggling.
Do you have walk in centres in Scotland? Some chemists have rooms for consultations, maybe they can help you. You have to stress to doctors that you definitely need to see them, tell them that you want swabs taken to rule out infection, if they refuse then tell them to make sure they put it on your notes that you've requested and they've refused...I find that sways them into agreeing to see you.
Hey Jacko44, I am no gp but see a different GP or ask him to refer you to the hospital, it could be anal fissures or tags that is not healing with the drugs, Daktarin never worked for me either, I used to use germoline cream on the outside and also got some hemorrhoid suppositories and pop one in once or twice a week as far as you can put it in, these eased it a great deal but December I was admitted into the hospital and he found these and removed these under local anaesthetic and it didn't hurt but was an instant relief once he had removed them and slightly uncomfortable for a few days, please get it checked by another doctor from your practice and good luck, hope this helps

Hey, Am sorry to hear you are suffering, why don't you call the surgery as early as you can and ask for a telephone consultation and then the GP calls you insist you have a face to face with him/her they are not allowed to deny you of this, I had to do that just before they diagnosed me with cancer, please be adamant and insist as the next stage is going to the A&E - hope this helps matey and good luck
Can you try A&E and tell them that you can’t see a doctor but the pain you’re getting is intolerable. Stress the impact it’s having on your mental health and persist in saying you want it looked at?
Hi, nothing worse than a pain in the arse. I did not think Daktarin was for use in that area. As per previous reply, to relative symptoms and be comfortable suggest Anusul cream or ointment to immediately get rid of the unkind symptoms. Also agree haemorrhoid suppositories may also relieve the discomfort. Fissure seems to be a likely culprit as even a very small one could allow an infection causing more discomfort. Plan A . Treat as Haemorrhoid and pain/discomfort should be alleviated. Go to a GP or walk in or sexual health clinic to get your proper diagnosis. Unfortunately it will/should require someone to look up there, using a small hand camera that checks the first 6 inches from the anus upwards. This may require (the camera) a referral from clinic or GP but no one expects you to be uncomfortable. Don’t wait if your GP is to busy go to a walk in centre and if this is attached to a hospital you may get it fully sorted immediately. My Doctor tells me he gets a Bill from the Walk In Centre when I have to make a visit. (my surgery does not have a full time nurse). So I have had to go to the Walk In for services usually provided by the GP. You also get to choose if you do or do not wish your GP to be aware of your visit to the WI. I am always happy for them to share the appropriate information.
There is a red rash that keeps appearing and disappearing at the front of my bum hole. That’s where a lot of the pain stems from. Anusol seems to make things worse as it flares it up! Got a phone appointment quit gp today so we will see where we are.
From your further description could be Intertrigo, treatment is with Daktacort Hydrocortisone Cream, which I think is Daktarin with a steroid added. Intertrigo is a very angry rash with a lot of discomfort.
Why dont you attend a sexual health clinic near where you live as you have a problem with the anogenital skin. It is also possible to have perianal herpes simplex , even when you haven't had anal sex. You also may need to had parasite infections such as threadworms ruled out , and dont forget perianal skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
So I have been to hospital and been diagnosed with a Nasty deep chronic annul fissure. Have had a Botox injection which will hopefullly help relax the muscle for it to heal. Just a waiting game now to see if it helps. They said I might need another one depending on how this goes. Still in pain but feel like maybe I am on the right path.
