Hi Alest,
If you're taking the pill as directed and having regular withdrawal bleeds on a monthly basis, then you're unlikely to be pregnant. However, heavy withdrawal bleeding may indicate presence of an underlying gynaecological condition, such as fibroids, uterine polyps, adenomyosis, polycystic ovaries etc. and these would need to be investigated by a gynaecologist. If you already know you have one of these conditions, then you could speak to the family planning doctor/nurse and ask them to try switching you to an alternative contraceptive. For example, the Mirena intrauterine system is often given to women with fibroids who suffer from heavy periods.
