Period problems due to IUD removal?

Hi all,

My periods have always been regular (30 day cycle) for the past 10 years. After deciding the copper coil side effects weren't worth it, I decided to get it removed after 7/8 months in a clinic in January. According to my period tracker, this would have been a day before ovulation. My period was due a week ago and still have no signs. I haven't had sex and so I can rule out pregnancy. Is it normal for the IUD removal to interrupt period cycle? Should I expect to miss a period or just have a super late one?

Hi I think it can disrupt your normal cycle for a while. They can become more frequent but shorter or later but more heavy.. it does take a while for the body to get back to it's own rhythm. Best thing to do is keep a diary and make a few notes, then if you get concerned you've got the information you need to discuss it with your gp if necessary.
