Thank you so much to all the people who took the trouble to answer my query about how much exercise to do. There was so much good advice and sharing of experiences which I really appreciated.

I guess we can all only hope to slow down the progression of this nasty condition but I think the overall message is to pace yourself. I do a 10 minute exercise programme each morning and I try to keep as active at home as I can - I always go upstairs to the loo (rails at both sides of the stairs) and busy myself with occasional baking etc. I feel I am retaining coordination in my hands by putting the letters in the small squares and completing Code Word in the newspaper each day. It also keeps my brain working! Important when you are 83!

I have reduced my cycling to 15 minutes three or four times a week but though I would love to swim again the hazard of getting from the changing rooms to the pool puts me off!

Best wishes to all.
