All Ataxians are told that the only treatment for our condition is exercise. Exercise can lead to a slowing down of symptoms or even keep them in a plateau. With this in mind I was helped by a personal trainer at a local gym each week, went to a weekly exercise class and carried out a programme of daily exercises at home. Unfortunately the Coronavirus has put a stop to all but the exercises I do at home. However I was lucky enough to meet Tessa Guy who taught me (backed up by scientific evidence) that if you follow a programme of exercises in the mind it is almost as beneficial as actually doing them physically. Her web site is wwwinmindinbody.com and for all of us who would find it impossible for instance to do star jumps this is a great way to continue to exercise. Give it a try!

Not been to the gym for over a year now as my last session put me to bed for 4 days! So now I've tried to do some light exercises at home( sit ups, stretching). All in a slow pace. After 3 minutes I started to experience fuzziness in my head and legs, couldn't breath properly. 😕
