hi all

Has anyone been screened for a deficiency in B12?

If so would you be able to share your experience ? B12 deficiency can cause ataxia. I’m astounded that we aren’t screened automatically .

FARA recognise that being low on B12 can cause restless legs.

Any experience would be greatly received

Thanks

Mary

I’m pretty sure I had a blood test for this, as it is a known cause of the symptoms. I take vitamin b12 daily, but in all honesty see no obvious benefits.

Hi,

I haven’t been screened or checked to see if I am deficient in B12 but it would be pretty likely that I am… or was.

I don’t want to follow many ways of authority so I don’t go to the doctors but refer to doctors online…. I obviously see what other docs have to say and don’t just refer to one.

Anyhow, most of the population are likely deficient in B12 and B1 because of the processed foods that they eat.

I eat a lot more natural, whole foods or I try my best and I eat nutritional flakes. Depending on the kind you buy you can get B12 from the flakes and they also contained B1 too. Both very important minerals.

I and my parents noticed after I started consuming nutritional flakes that I had more energy.

They taste cheesy and I have added them to soup as a garnish but mostly add a couple of teaspoons to my smoothies.

When you say that a B12 deficiency can cause ataxia, I haven’t actually heard that before but I would not be surprised if it could.

When I first read about deficencies of B1 I thought that a lot of the trouble I have with my BI sound a lot like these deficiencies.

I have ataxia and I always thought that the problems I have were all a result of the BI but after hearing about the deficiencies of B1 and B12 then I am sort of in the middle on what to think.

Apparently, most of what people know or think they know is completely wrong.

And mainstream doctors really don’t know best but the opposite.

I really would not be surprised at all if the deficiency-thing is key for BI.

They say we are what we eat. That doesn’t mean you eat a sausage and look like a sausage per se but more likely that you eat crap, processed foods that are most likely very low in vitamins and minerals and you’ll end up with crap health.

Eat good, healthy, real food and you’ll end up with a good, healthy body.

Hi

I recently requested a blood test, because i've been struggling with stringing sentences together, lack of concentration, brain fog and many other symptoms.

A b12 deficiency has come up

will you take b12 orally or have injections been recommended?

The range that the NHS use for various tests are very wide. Personaly i don't understand as we are all individuals, at different ages, with different health conditions, why doctors use one size fits all. Personally i have learnt to question the "normal" result as this can be just below or above the NHS's range. This i believe was set many years ago for amiddle aged healthy man!!!

And i agree with the reply of "you are what you eat" add modern farming and soil depletion to the mix and it gets rather complicated.

All we can do is make good choices nutritritionally, be kind to ourselves, and most importantly, do things that make us happy 😊
