Anxiety disorder

Picture yourself in a lions den, or on the edge of a cliff, and try to imagine how difficult it would be to feel calm and free from anxiety and stress.

In situations like that, worrying is completely natural and the person(s) that are able to remain calm are exceptional.

However, imagine what it is like to feel anxious and worried all day long in everyday situations.

I have been living with such a state of mind for the most part of my life, and i'm now 54 years old.

I'm more aware at this point in time that many people of all ages, gender, social status etc, are living with an anxiety disorder.

In my experience, life can be challenging when one has a mental health problem.

I'm also aware that it can lead to depression, drug misuse, low self esteem, alcohol dependance, unemployment, reliance upon benefits, isolation, loneliness, frustation and such like.

Can you relate to that?

Are you managing to cope reasonably well despite having an anxiety disorder?

According to my GP, I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and I was only diagnosed about three years ago and prior to that I had no idea why I am in a constant state of anxiety.

Prior to that, I struggled to live a life as normal as possible but that wasn't easy because of the nature of the illness.

I'm able to cope fairly well now but the anxiety never eases no matter what.

It's reasonable for me to expect that i'll have to live with this disorder for the rest of my life and the tought doesn't please me but until I find a way to control my mindset

I can't imagine my life being free from unnatural and constant anxiety.

Please share your thoughs and experiences.

Thanks.

I'm glad that you're feeling good Patsy.Hopefully, my mood will improve as time goes by.

I may pop out to the supermarket in a while and pick up a few things.

Best wishes to you.
