The thing about this ATAXIA, is the worsening blackouts, (not really worsening, more of not knowing when one will happen).
They can last from a minute to 4-6 minutes.
The other is the slurred speech - sounding drunk and it cost nothing😂
The loss of use in the legs and arms can be a bit of a nuisance especially when I wake in the mornings & forget. Roll out of bed and hit the floor like a sack of potatoes😂
But I must say this:
The ‘Occupational Therapist’s’ over the years have been ‘Angels on my Shoulders’.
The equipment they have supplied me and adjustments done in where I live, I can not praise them high enough👍👍
NHS bless ‘em all❤️
Right I’m for a cuppa because if I don’t I’ll forget and I’ll never get the cuppa☕️
not heard about black outs being symptom of ataxia but always learning. Yes NHS and social services are great support and often get taken for granted. I really appreciate my bath lift supplied by social services as I dont like showers.
Neurologist is not 100% certain nor are his colleagues. Had so many tests and those awful MRI’s over the years, any more of those and I’ll glow at night......
Yeah, Occupational Therapists got my Hospital bed for me, not the jazzy type like in the wards, but still has the controls for raising & lowering height, raising the back and/or legs. It’s a godsend. They got my manual wheelchair measured for me. A trolley to assist me round the Bungalow which they arranged for me to move into.
And it has a corker wet room.
Aye the NHS, bless them all...
But I still don’t like those MRI’s😂😂😂
Enjoy your day👍
I've have an interest in you, I also black out and more. This part of my health might not be Ataxia alone, I'm still figuring it out I have a Vegus Nerve Stimulator the stops blackouts.
I had blackouts/fainting for 6 month before they caught it: HEARTBLOCK. It is caused by nervous system malfunctioning due the cerebellum shrinkage/abnormality. It was discovered because the paramedic on final occurrence caught it. Now I wear a pacemaker (ugh) and it has not happened again in 6 years.
