I hv sca 3. Is it true about anticipation? If you inherit the gene from maternal side as opposed to paternity side, symptoms will show later?

Hello, well I’m 74, I have cerebellar Ataxia, I inherited it from my Father, he inherited from his Mother. I have had balance problems from birth, but luckily things have only got worse since the age of around 60.

Have one daughter and one granddaughter who shows no sign of Ataxia .

Hope this helps.

Hello, my daughter is 47, her daughter is 12. I said to my daughter, when her daughter is older perhaps she could have tests to see if she carries the gene.

No, as I was in my 60s when I saw the consultant . I didn’t want to know , as it would make no difference to my life.

How do you feel, also how much have you accomplished to keep yourself together. I'm in my 30's I've been diagnosed in my 30's, so it's new in understanding but not new in experience.

Plain one day I want to be your age, it would be great to get some of the experience you've learned. My experience was silent and now overwhelming with reality, which makes me feel at times I know about my Cerebellar Ataxia now I can rest and ignore it.

Hello Julia 808. You ask me how I feel, sometimes up and sometimes down. My Mam used to say , there is always someone worse off than yourself, which is so true. Find life frustrating as what I could do a few months ago, now I have to ask for help. This group has helped me.

As a person who has the same Ataxia as yourself knows what you are going through. Well to keep myself together, try to find something to make me smile, there are so many things, .Have the boxed set of Frasier which is so enjoyable.. knit hats for Age Concern for Innocent smoothie bottles. Love Audio Books Have joined The Bald Explorer Group on Face Book .He makes short videos which are a joy to watch.

When it’s not windy. I push my Rollator around the block, can’t go very far now, I have a lovely husband we get a taxi sometimes to the shops. He does the shopping puts the washing on the line and does the jobs I used to do. Sit in a chair most of the day , can see trees from the window, can still wash up and cook a meal try and do some house work , push my trolley with one hand and push the Dyson with the other hand, you have to adapt, and always see the funny side of everything. Gosh once I get started I ramble on a bit. I hope this helps .take care of yourself.

As far as help I got a beautiful story from you, that's a strong marriage to be there. I get what you mean I just found myself moving ahead in life, my toddler daughter who was sick in a room full of sick teenagers made them happy. I ask them how they felt because she was to young to tell me, I guess I want to give myself the best before and when I get to other ages. Thank you your story is beautiful, I see health marriage and strong will.🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐🍁🍁🍁🍁

You welcome Plain I pictured what I read, it's great to hear how others deal with there journey with health.

With Hereditary Ataxia it's degenerative, so everyone is different but overtime it gets worse. Everyone will experience at a different age the change in there health. I have Cerebellar Ataxia.
