Exercise
hello foffee, nobody else answered so I'll tell you about mine. I have to stand facing the counter top and holding on, bring my knee up towards my chest 10 times each leg. Also standing put one leg behind the other about 18 inches making sure toes face front. Bend the front knee 10 times on each leg. Then arms outstretched as far as can for 5 seconds, 5 times.
What are you doing?

I go to the YMCA near were I live. They have a really good class for people with balance issues. Not just exercised but also changing the way you think as you move around. I also do weight training (I work with a trainer that specializes in helping people with issues). Also, I really like Aquafit. You don’t really have to worry about balance the same way in the pool so you can push yourself in ways you wouldn’t be able to otherwise.
I don’t exercise , but try to walk around the streets pushing my rollater.
When it is not windy. In the house I push a trolley around.
I go to Pilates twice a week and find it very good for stretching excercise and it keeps you subtle and also helps with relaxation I also walk using my 2 walking poles up to 4 miles at least twice a week
Exercise is hard for me, the device I have makes it very hard to breathe if you try. The only thing I do is walk are go up and down stairs, maybe the Ataxia keeps me slim. That's one thing I noticed, all around me that are my age have gained lots of weight and I'm still slim.
Thanks I walk in pool
Walking, when I can, also a rowing a machine which is brilliant as it exercises more than just the legs, and you are sitting down!
I saw wood. I push a lawnmower to a sawhorse, hold the log/plank/whatever with one hand and saw using the other. Keeps me very fit... There's a garden chair nearby, and I take frequent breaks.
I use an electric powerchair, so I can only raise my legs, sometimes one at a time, sometimes together...... I raise to hold leg horizontal for as long as possible, when I first started it was only about five seconds but after fifteen months of once daily, I have managed to get to 55 seconds for one leg and 40 for the other leg.
At 75 years of age I have severe arthritis in both knees but I will persevere as long as I can 😀👍
