Hi, I have late onset cognitive problems rather than physcal or motor problems. This is not the norm I understand.

🙂Hi. Many of us, no matter what type of ataxia, find that Cognition and Emotion are affected. Memory/recall is not what it once was, being able to absorb information can be challenging, and Emotion can be up and down at the drop of a hat😏

There is a specific diagnosis ‘Cerebellar Cognitive Affective Syndrome’ 🙂xB

Thank you. I had no idea. I am a newbie sort of. I have cognitive problems too much and small ataxia problems almost non existant and a stroke to start with, so not genetic.

It’s entirely possible that your ataxia was ‘triggered’ by the stroke. In which case it would be considered Aquired Ataxia. There’s not much information relating to this, other than listing potential causes. A member of my local group has the same, her stroke was in the Cerebellum. Symptoms were more physical, and she’s found a NeuroPhysiotherapist very helpful 🙂xB

Hi imoa, I have cognitive problems too and I also have aspergers traits, so I find things to follow a problem at times and I am not always good at understanding things either. I get stressed a lot at times never seems to go. I try to forget about these problems sometimes my hobbies help with this.

Best wishes

Suzie
