Hi Chantelle, good to meet you - so to speak. you have come to the right place as the people here have so much knowledge and information they can share with you. 3 young children must keep you very busy. I think it is great that your boyfriend cares for you: my husband is my carer and we are fortunate enough to have a respite carer to give him a break now and again as he still works full time, and we are both past retirement age. Stay positive, stay happy and try to stay healthy. All the best, Barbara.

Dear Chantelle, A HUGE welcome to this site! I live in the USA, but find this site very helpful! The people on here are wonderful for support, as well as advice!!! I'm sure your three kiddos keep you busy and how great your boyfriend is your carer! I'm much older then you (63) and my two children are grown and married now! My son has three kiddos of his own (I'm a grandma...,ha!) and my daughter is expecting her first baby in March 2018! My wonderful husband is my carer, but still works full-time, so I'm on my own during the day. Anyway, I hope you find this site helpful!!! My best to you..., ;o)

Hi Chantelle,

Welcome to the world of Ataxia. I too live in Rugby, I have Cerebellar Ataxia (unknown), am well past my prime, but still manage to get around. There is a "local" Support Group which meets at regular intervals at Exhall Old Community Centre, CV7 9GL (it is just a short distance from Jcn 3 M6). The next meeting is on Sunday 29th October at 2pm. We are a small group of people with different types of Ataxia and we are very welcoming. So if you want to try us out, the best person to contact is Katie (our leader), her email address is ohbotherx@icloud.com.

Health Unlocked is a wonderful forum to find out how others cope and their invaluable experience dealing with sometimes very mundane situations (considered normal) but which to us present huge problems. I can think of one in particular - drying your face with a towel - your eyes are closed and suddenly you're off balance. I can now do this if I lean against the handbasin or just dry one side at a time.

Good luck to you and I wish you all the best. Keep smiling.

Lorraine
