I have been told to try tai chi in order to help with my balance. I tried my first tai chi class today and I found it really helped me focus on my balance! I enjoyed the class and hoping to go a couple of times a week and maybe I will improve over time.
Has anyone else given it a go?

Hi, I've been going once a week for about 2 months and enjoy it too. I also go to Pilates and yoga classes but find the balance exercises, ( eg standing on one leg!) a bit too challenging. I like the moving balance exercise in tai chi. I'm in my 60s and we have a few 80 year olds in our class, so I'm hoping its something I can keep up!
yes I have tried it but my balance was so bad I gave up and did wheelchair based exercise instead. I also go to a basic exercise class at the local Adult Ed college and that has been really good. I had a shunt done in December and that made a big difference to my balance ( I have ataxia and hydrocephalus)so I can walk much better now and can get on buses and trains on my own which I have not been able to do for over 4 years. I think it is a question of finding the exercise that helps you most and it is good to have the social aspect too! carry on the good work XX Sylvia
