Yes. Much preferable to opiod medications. Less negative side effects. I prefer the indica strains to help relax my muscles. I'm currently residing in a location where it is difficult to obtain and I greatly miss the benefits. It helps a lot with muscle cramps and makes it is easy to relax and concentrate on preforming and enjoying simple daily tasks. I think it's criminal that some circles disregard the valuable health benefits of this medication. The pain reduction benefits are very noticeable, at least to me. As with all medications it isn't a cure all for everyone but is at least worth giving a try to ease the suffering from Ataxia. It helps with my depression as well.

Yes, I take it in the form of a cough drop on occasion when my pain level is high and I have to function. As long as I'm not driving or have to walk the balance beam it's fine. I try to just take 2 tramadol a day but hardly works anymore. I also take medicinal marijuana, droplets in water, when sleeping is extra tough. I'm fortunate I have this option because I really do not want to be on opiates. I have Canvas.

What a coincidence. I had a really bad night on Friday. The pain woke me at 02:00 and I just couldn't get back to sleep. So I took an extra gabapentin which worked after an hour. However, the higher dose gives me terribly vivid dreams, which makes for very poor sleep.

So I started looking for something that might give rapid relief for occasional use and found an article in New Scientist from 2015 about use of cannabidiol in e-cigarettes. Apparently one brand, MediPen, is undergoing trials by the NHS. Unfortunately, that one is a little expensive, so I've ordered a cheaper one from Amazon.

CBD has two advantages of cannabis. It doesn't produce a high and it's legal. The first won't be perceived as an advantage by some, but for those who may need to use it during the work day it could be a very important one.

I'll report back when I've tried it out.

I use Medipen and find it is a real benefit. It really helps me cope with my constant complete body pain. It doesn't take the pain away but nothing ever has, it has helped me with my depression and improved my sleep. I don't think it is that expensive and its good to know that it only contains cbd oil and medical grade pure coconut oil, no nasty chemicals that a lot of the others use. It has helped so much that I have stopped smoking after 50 yrs and joined a gym which has also had a positive effect on my mental health, its rubbish for the pain but , as its always there I may as well have a reason for it.

I found out that there may be some problems with vaping cannabidiol (CBD) products in the future. The MHRA have decided that "products containing cannabidiol (CBD) used for medical purposes are a medicine" and, as such will require a license. gov.uk/government/news/mhra...

Many manufacturers think that they can get round this with disclaimers saying their product is not for medicinal use.

I emailed the makers of MediPen and they say

We're still running as normal and we have not encouraged any panic buying. We're also very pleased we managed to get the UK Government to finally admit CBD has medicinal benefits. The MHRA have officially confirmed that CBD does administer a medicinal effect on humans, and will be channelled through a properly regulated market which is what we've worked for.

and

With regards to this specific announcement by the MHRA, we knew this was coming so we've have our own extremely exciting announcement to make, don't worry MediPen® will ensure everyone is looked after!

I bought a CBDLife kit from Amazon (no longer available - hmmm). I've tried a few puffs before sleeping and a few more if I wake in the middle of the night. So far I do seem to be having fewer episodes where the pain in my feet wakes me and keeps me awake.

I have a MediPen kit on my XMAS list.
