I saw this site advertised on facebook. It has become my friend for advice and peers. And if course to vent when I feel the need. If you google the blf there is all the info to either downlaod or to send for, and if you need urgent advice the tel number is there too. hope this helps. xx

Hi Jackie

The BLF helpline is a great resource and the call is charged at your local rate and may be free as part of your call package. More info here

thank you both its just I have only been here a few days and found it immensly helpful talking to others, and realising I am not the only one suffering certain symptoms when your own doctor dismisses you .

Nobody told me either Jackie - I had COPD for five and a half years before I found it! Shocking really. Welcome. Hope you enjoy it now you have found it.

There is info about the BLF and Breathe Easy groups out there but it's not something you get told about it seems. My GP surgery don't have anything on display but the pharmacy next door do, that's where I picked up a leaflet.

When I eventually got referred to hospital there was a big display board full of different BLF leaflets in the waiting area, and some of the staff mentioned Breathe Easy to me.

As I got into the BE group more I found out that one of the regulars had volunteered to look after leaflets and regularly stocked up the display at the hospital, as well as dropping some general ones off at chemist shops and doctors.

I was also looking up info on Asthma and COPD on the Internet and picked up on the BLF that way as well. I had joined a forum on the NHS Choices site, but that was closed and it was a while before this particular site had a COPD section running. This forum is mentioned on the BLF site.

I can't remember how I found the site - think it was probably a leaflet from doctor's or something. I have never rung them but plan to next week. Their information pack told me lots of things I didn't know and I found it really useful.
