my mum always used lint soaked in very hot water and left on the boil until it cooled then repeat the process. Lint with hot water brings it to a ‘head’ so it can burst. Sounds like you have a painful one
Hi, my mum (retired nurse) use to swear by magnesium sulphate paste. Cover the boil with it and cover with a dressing, that way you can leave it on all night.
As I remember - Put a warm, wet cloth on your boil for about 10 minutes, three or four times daily. Magnesium Sulphate Paste is another remedy. AKA Epsums Salts.
I was just going to say the same as others have said.
Sounds nasty Germatara I hope you get it sorted soon. I would go for the hot water and it that doesn't work try the magnesium x
Different family recipe, a teaspoon of sugar and some grated soap folded into a gauze square. Tape the gauze onto the boil, leave for 24 hours. One of those things, I can remember the recipe but not if it worked 🤷♀️ Hope whatever you try works for you and you feel better soon.
My mother made a paste of Fairy washing soap and sugar when I had a boil. The pain when it burst was horrendous but it was a relief. However make sure it isn't one that might need dressing and packing once it does burst.
Another remedy is a bread polish, that's bread wrapped in cloth of choice soaked in boiled water put on boil as hot as you can bare it ,leave on untill cold then repeat
Boils are mostly caused by a bacteria, Staphillococcus Aureus (the SA bit of MRSA), and AB's are the best way. I had a lung infection with that bug in 2017 which went on from the end of March into November. Oral AB hardly touched it, and it was only after a scan, which showed I now had bi-basal bronchiectasis, and the application of an intravenous AB, that it was knocked out. I believe that long infection with that bug, caused my bronchiectasis. I've still got a little scar on my arm, which is due to a boil I had when I was about 8, so 75 years ago.
Hope it bursts soon. Hot water on a cotton wool or a clean cloth was our remedy x
My wife had a cyst in a similar place, but a bit lower down. Came back after ABs so she had it surgically removed: local anaesthetic, completely painless, dissolving stitches, virtually no scar. Took 20 minutes and I watched it all happen!
So, if the non-invasive treatments don’t work, don’t worry about surgery - my wife’s experience suggests it would be quick, painless and a permanent solution.
My husband also had an infected cyst removed. Like Mrs. Superzob found it quick, painless and virtually scarless.
My partner (retired nurse) suggests a using a magsulph paste dressing.
