Hey Everyone. My heart rate has been concerning me lately. I am on Seretide, Tiotropium, Azithromycin 3x week، Montelukast omeperazole, Prednisone 10mg . I have noticed that my heart rate spikes around 101 bpm after using seretide and does not go away 3-4 hours after its use, and after meals.
ECG is perfectly normal. All vitals OK
Doctor has advised me to use Ivabradine 2.5 mg to avoid straining my heart. But I dont feel like taking it as i also have anxiety. Has someone experienced it?

Hi Sunshine404 - This may sound unreal but a normal resting heart rate is beteen 60-100 BPM - If your ECG is fine, then probably nothing to worry about.
Ivabradine will reduce heart rate and will protect your heart. I have had very abnormal heart rates, been hospitalised with them, never been given Ivabradine .
Thank you. I have decided not to take ivabradine unless i strongly need it. My pharmacist says that prednisone could be one reason of a fast heart rate with anxiety as second. It stays around 100 bpm which gives me an uncomfortable feeling as my heart rate has rarely exceeded the 80s beforehand.
Good luck Sunshine404 - I think you and Pharmasist are right - prednisone can cause mood changes and couple that with anxiety, probably that could account for the you 20% rise in heart rate.
I think you have a good chance of improvement once you have stopped your prednisone - they have lots of side effects.
Hi, I agree with ern007 talk to a chemist they can best advise you on what the medication should do. The average heart rate is supposed to be 72bpm myself I have resting rate of 65-74bpm. If the doctor is not worried try not to worry and over think things always good to use the forum for advice. Good luck. Kevin
My resting heart beat is regularly around 100. Like you I have had various ECG with nothing found. The conclusion reached is that this is just me and not to worry about it.
As others suggest if you are concerned speak to your pharmacist about it and the medication. I have never been offered medication for this.
as mentioned a resting heart rate of 100 is not a major issue, mine was normally 95-105 and all other stats ok. Now I’m back on anti fungals it’s dropped to 60-70, if you are concerned you can always call 111 and chat to someone
To help improve your resting heart rate and bringing it down, consider asking to take a Pulmonary Rehab course and starting to improve your general fitness. If you are worried about exercise causing your heart more problems, check with your doctor the most appropriate exercises to start.
I had it discussed with my doctor’s office again. He told it is probably due to prednisone and it should go away as soon as prednisone wears off. Thanks Everyone
inhalers frequently raise heart rate due to bronchodilator properties. If you think it's unusual for you then worth talking to the cardiologist as they know best what to do about it.
