Yorkie you need to see a Doctor. My first question is how are you taking your pulse? Is it at the wrist or a machine? My next question is as your GP done an Apex pulse. By that I mean one person takes the pulse at the wrist at the same time another listens to the heart with a stethoscope and both count the beats over one minute. They then compare the number they have counted. At times the heart can contract but the contraction is not strong enough for the pulse to be felt in the limbs. There are a number of reasons for this. Obviously you are showing no symptoms with your bradycardia but for safety you should see you GP as you may need some tests.
Hi Yorkie,
I agree with what badbessie says. You need to discuss this with your GP. You may need to have an ecg to find out what is going on. I have an abnormal heart rate, but tests showed everything is ok and the consultant said that this was something peculiar to me, whereas my husband, who had no symptoms, had a routine ecg which showed pauses in his heart beat.
My point being, with some things you need to seek professional advice.
Do check this out with your GP. My previous husband Bob who died in 2003, used to have the pulse checked in his foot as well as elsewhere by his consultant and GP, as the different readings from the different pulse points help them in their diagnosis.
Please make sure your GP has this info ASAP you may need to have a heart rate monitor to get a clearer picture.
Agree with comments above.
Do get yourself checked out.
Elite athletes can have low pulse rates but even if you are super dooper fit shouldn't be that low.
Best of luck and let us know how you get on.
