I named this (quite rightly) "Inspired by Claude Monet"
I realised I had named "Inspired by Claude Monet" so that does not mean copy but work is inspired by Monet who was 'an Impressionist. and and 'Oil Painter' I am no copier and that defeats being a painter,
I realised Monet painted this outside of Paris - Argenteuil to be exact in 1875.
I painted what I was able with acrylic also I use more colour - I had the house, the trees, the poppies and a girl. Thant's a lot of inspiration. French county roads are so France.
So I added a Lane which reminded me of a movie - filmed in France, "And soon the darkness" and I thought that would make the road ok
I used red and orange on the 'poppies; - The roads changes the lie of the land a bit, but hey just "Inspired by Monet"
Finally the girl - I am not a painter of people ordinarily but this was an impression of an inpression and I painted a girl standing up. I did not want to give her a straight daggy dress, so I allowed her a bit of curve.
So that's the into over and the painting is named. Monets Poppy Field. Inspired by Monet.

This is beautiful Ern.thanku 4intro too. Its an idyllic countryside scene, very welcomed with grey skies+ rain here, thanku.i love Yr colours and textures too xx
Hi Ern, not knowingly ever seen a Monet painting, I always look on your paintings with an open mind. You never disappoint 😊. This looks like an English country lane to me, one of many I feel I've walked down in the past. Beautiful 🙂thank you for sharing once again ❤️xxxx
Hi Ern, thank you for this lovely painting, and such a poignant subject with it coming up to D-Day. We have visited Normandy many times and the war cemeteries there. I can never see a poppy without thinking about the veterans and all they gave for our freedom. Monet is also one of my favourite artists so a double thank you. Joy xx
Thank you Joy. What a considerate post - We owe everything to our veterans, I think that gets lost looking at what now goes on. Monet and other Post Impressionist are a joy, imagine living to paint. xx
Thank you watergazer. I like Monet, this by him is one of the best. "Jigsaws" Anne got Van Goghs 1000 piece starry night, took that many night to complete every piece looked the same. x
Beautiful Ern. I just pictured you in a field in the South of France with your easel, canvas and acrylics, drinking a nice red and eating Brie on a baguette. You certainly take us places with your brilliant paintings. They really brighten up our days.
Thank You Jan - Yes the South of France sounds great. Specially with a couple of glasses of Cotes du Rhône - I can smell the berries now Lots of hugs, xxx
The house looks very rural French, the girl reminds me of my sister but she has grey hair these days , but her and my figure were nice and slim in younger days like the painting. Afraid I'm not an artist , and not much good at my house painting these days. Thank you for sharing all you paintings, glad you enjoy doing it and giving others pleasure. The poppies remind me of family members who were in the forces, those that came back and those that did not. fascinating what memories pictures & paintings bring back. Its looking a bit brighter here this afternoon hope its good where you are.
Thank you katie - This painting was ideal for me, even better than the Venice skyline I did. Not being a copyist I could create just a bit without losing the atmosphere of the painting, The girl I though a while before painting a knee length skirt, I had a licence to do that, being inspired and not copying.
Poppies have a lot of power, don't they - helps us remember the fallen - I had an uncle lost during WW2 and I was named after him.
I agree, memories can be nudged by pictures and photo's.
We have a dark sky, really autumn, winter, spring and been poor, Last year very lucky, never rained once when we were at the coast.
