On 22nd I took respiratory test. Ribs in area of LUNG SURGERY in 2019 are very painful upon effort; front, side, and back. I'm taking tylenol and rubbing creams with little improvement. Any one experience this after test?

Rib pain after breathing test
can I ask which surgery you had
lt was robotic assisted removal of a adenocarcinoma from my mid right lung. I had 5 cuts total, I think. The worst pain afterwards was the drainage port. After that I rested in hosital fo fe days. This pain iss new experience. I do have a CT Apr & consult with my surgeonio-oncologist Apr 8..
Hi Lyubov. I had pain after I had pulmonary function tests. My breathing was bad at the time. The aches stated during the test, but really hurt in the following days. I took it to be muscular. However, if you are concerned the pain you are experiencing is related to your surgery there is no harm in getting checked out. You could try 111 if your GP is busy.
Sorry can't help with your query Lyubov but would suspect you are right in thinking it is the pulling of scar tissue. On those tests you have to breath deep and hold so many times which we dont normally do, if it continues I would speak with your doctor, hopefully it will ease off x
In our singing group, we do stretching exercises for the body and lungs before we get people to sing demanding songs. The lung function tests will be more demanding than the hour of singing we do. So the pain is probably caused by overstretched muscles around the scars. It is still important to get the pains checked out and the cause confirmed, as I did when I first experienced them. All the best.
I'm glad you're having a CT scan in April to put your mind to rest & hoping it's a muscular pain and will have ceased soon. P
Yes I had two days of proper pain after doing my last two spirometry tests. Felt like I'd been kicked in the ribs. It felt muscular. I was concerned as I have some scarring.
Thanks to all who have responded with your very helpful input. I am 80yo and should do stretch & breath exercise. I have gotten tired (careing for my husband) and neglecting myself.
I get a lot of pain in the left hand side and back of my chest, It is confusing as I have Angina, probably nothing to do with it, lung scaring - I don't think so.
I have had CT scans, X Rays and a Nuclear Scan - My medical record states (History :
x rays discussed
shows OA throughout
loss lumbar lordosis)
So it's obviously spinal and muscular
Hope you get you rib pain sorted, bothered me for months.
I actually fractured a rib while doing doing chest clearance. Although painful it didn’t take long to heal. A Phisio nurse told me to put a rolled up towel between my arm and side and hold. It worked a treat In fact I thought the pain was muscular but showed up on X-ray as fracture
