I find spicy foods like curries and herbal teas containing ginger very helpful for colds. Jakemans sweets and Fisherman's Friends lozenges are really helpful. I also use a saline nasal wash to shift the mucus in the sinuses, which sends some of the bugs packing.

Oranges and other fruit help provide vitamin C, which the body needs to help fight infection. You might also need to supplement vitamin D at this time, when the body can't make it from sunlight. I take a teaspoon of cod liver oil daily to help with that.

Hello murphy53, I find herbal teas with honey or sugar work . You can get a honey and ginger tea in most supermarkets think its a Twinnings one. Garlic helps to clear congestion too and prevent it . Lemon in hotwater is good and cheap. My mum used to use obas oil on a hanky to clear the sinuses. Keep milk down to minimum as that makes it worse. My freind use to have a rum & black , its the blackcurrant that helps really 🙂That's a few suggestions for you to try. Have a Happy New Year

Zinc lozenges as soon as you start to realize you are getting a cold keeps the virus from replicating. It won’t cure it but does cut down on the severity.

I’d suggest going up to your GP. There are special replacement meals and drinks they can prescribe for you that are full of vitamins. I’d certainly suggest eating more fruit and vegetables as it’s known that eating largely plant-based diets, including herbs & spices, are essential for our well-being and recovery. They’re also very anti-inflammatory. perhaps make yourself smoothies, and soups if you find eating whole foods difficult and put as many fruits or vegetables in as you can. Eating wide variety of plants is now known to be the most beneficial though you can still eat meat and fish too. You can find out more via ZOE on YouTube. It’s headed by Professor Tim Spector and they also did the largest covid study in the world funded by our government. All the latest research from studies is on there.
