Luck of the draw? I dont know but when I'm well I'm like that too - and I recently had 7 whole months of being well until the beginning of December & I've been unwell, stuck indoors with zilch energy or brain power for since.

I have asthma & possibly mild copd. (I saw copd in my medical records but no-one has said it to me).

Right now my lungs are creaking like a squeaky door hinge as well as wheezy, blue puffer 5 times a day as well as a high dose of preventer morn & night. Though next week I may be able to run for a bus!

Awwww hope you feel better soon hun,x

Hope you feel better soon peeg, do you think all this wet is triggering some of your symptoms. I do hope its not the lung infection hanging on. Its difficult living in London with higher pollution and increased exposure to the bugs due to higher population levels. Take good care. Best wishes BC

Hi, thanks BC, getting to the hospital yesterday morning was a drag, freezing frost plus damp. I wouldn't normally have gone out in that. So, I covered my mouth etc (as much to avoid others germs as keeping out the cold damp air). It was a wasted jouney because only the Prof/co was on so I re-appointed (pls excuse if I'm repeating myself, brain is still on hold)! However, I did feel a lot better by the evening, fewer coughs & less mucus. Today feeling much brighter too. Thank goodness, hoping this lasts.

I hope you have made it through & are fully okay ?

Yes,the pollution here isn't a good thing.

Cycling to & from work with undiagnosed asthma probably didn't help but I was fit & didn't notice. The last few winters have been pay back time.

If I pull out of this one it will be a huge improvement on recent years. Forever optimistic :D

Hi peeg not good having to go out in freezing cold damp weather, sorry you had a wasted journey. Just being inside in the warm can have a huge improvement on the way we breathe when its cold and damp out. Keep on feeling better peeg and everything crossed for that huge improvement for you :)

I'm doing ok now, mostly, thanks for asking.

Best BC

I wouldn't get hung up on the lung age thing, its how you feel, breathe and how much you can achieve on the activity side of things, from what you say you are doing well with this.

You can do all those things because you have mild copd. Lucky you, just one inhaler, that's great. More good news is you can improve on that fitness level if you keep up the good work and continue to do what you are doing and maybe just add a couple more steps on jog every week or so, working up to 6 mins.

Good Luck and as Bucket says, keep fit, eat healthy and enjoy life, (also drink plenty of water) :)

A lot of people are working full time and don't know they have COPD in the mild stages. Keep being as active as you can. Eat a good diet and I hope you keep as well as you are for many years.

My husband would love lungs of an 82yr old with that stamina!! Keep fit and well TAD xx

Not been given an age of my lungs but I do wish I could do half that.

Well Done

Hi I've got mild emphysema. And am waiting to join the pulmonary rehab group. I was told the other day when I saw the specialist that I've lost 35% of my lung function. Must admit I was a bit shocked :-/. Thank god I gave up smoking 16 years ago or it would have been doubled he said. So don't hesitate to give up smoking. Xx

How many 82 year olds can do what you do. I have severe copd but its been a long time since i have been able to do what you can. Think I would be inclined to take no notice of that nurse. SueE

I find all the medical talk that doctors splurge out very confusing.

I have Scarred lungs, Asthma, & bronchiectasis.

Recently I spoke to my GP who also slipped in the word COPD, that's the first time I have had that said to me....

I said whatttttt! he laughed and said, COPD is a an umbrella word for lung disease phew still ain`t got a clue but felt a bit happier.

Don't let it get you down, stay fit, eat well and enjoy life.

Tom.
