Not one of my better paintings - never done this before. I am naming this an impression as I has made less foliage on the trees - To show the light through..
I took about six camera shots and this the only one on my easel - Was hard the others brighter but this seemed right,

I do like this one , i prefer the colour range myself to the more vivid ones .
personally I save the bright colours for some flower paintings.
my last painting was of thunder clouds in gibralter harbour from a photo taken a few years ago .
but there is a website that sends out a picture of some clouds every day . these taken by various members with explanation of how they have fornmed. worth joining as you get a cloud picture every day if you join, or alternatively a special once a month and that is free.
The others I took in better light were more vivid - Looked ok and in some ways clearer cut than this but the slight purple tones you can see in in this, could not be seen in the bright version.
Thank's I will check the "cloud appreciation society" out - One way I do clouds is you put random blobs of white on canvas and slowly drag the clouds into shape with an ordinary paint brush - Then add greys if needed . Thunder clouds are dramatic, I have never painted those, I paint clouds with seascapes.
Such a calming picture Ern. I know I'm fairly new to this forum but you really do make my day with your beautiful paintings/drawings. Thanks so much. Jan xxx
Thank you. I was unsure about this true -I took three photo's and one was more vivid but had lost the violet undertones - So I chose this as not as bright but more complete.
I’m liking your more restrained use of colour on this one, Ern. I think it’s just right for this particular subject, as is the way you’ve reduced the tree foliage to allow the light through.
I love the swathes of colour! And the contrast of the trees set against this, and the way you've varied the sizes of the trees with the little one in the middle. Thank you! 🙂🙂
