The Citizens' Advice can be very helpful with forms. It is not a good idea to fill in an application form without help. Daughter and I tried to do this when she had to change to PIP. Result: she was refused help-she did not have enough points to get PIP. We got help from a lady at Mencap. She knew how to answer the questions correctly and daughter was awarded PIP, with a considerable back payment. Moral: apply quickly. Very good luck- I hope it's all straightforward.
Yes. Definitely get help filling them in because they are very tricky. CAB will do it and also local disability groups. If you are over a certain age then Age UK or Help the Aged etc. will help too.
You can also get a lot of help online with mock forms to fill out so you get the idea.
The main criteria is not to say yes to too many questions. If for example they say can you carry shopping, then say yes if you can but qualify it by saying it takes you ages and gives you pain for an hour afterwards etc.
The criteria is not only can you do something but can you do it in a timely and safe manner without repurcussions. This last bit is very important and will get you the points.
Also remember it's NOT the illness you have which is important but how it affects you.
Good luck.
Hi, whoever helps you be sure to keep a copy (digital or paper) so you can read again and also have beside you before the. Good luckinterview
As Alberta and others say, it’s a good idea to get help with forms and Citizens Advice will happily help I’m sure. Good luck to you Germantara. Xxx
You are better getting help if you are unsure.
Before you send in your form, be sure to copy both the questions and your answers, because in a review you will need to know what you said on your form. I think peege mentioned the same. being prepared is two part the battle.
I agree with the others: Yes, get help and Yes take a copy to "revise" before your assessment.
Good luck, and if you don't get it appeal!! xx
Get help and always put you worst days as that's how they need to assess you be honest how you are affected by your conditions and good luck
They want to know what you are like on your worst day. It's not the condition that gets PIP it's you. This is a useful website and if you click on the arrow next to the question, it gives more advice good luck citizensadvice.org.uk/benef...
Check out the Benefits and Work website. I have been a member a long time. The guides are excellent and the joining fee is less than £20 p.a. which is an investment. There is also a forum in which to ask questions. A fantastic aid. Good luck.
Yes I’m sure they will a lady at our hospice who worked in admin when my husband was in there took my forms from me and did it all for me she said she was always doing them and they are hard for the average person to do so I imagine the people at citizens advice could help you
