Just wondering, how many people with severe copd work full time and what job you do.

I'm debating wether to return to work or not.

Hi

I was diagnosed at age 60 with severe COPD 34% lung function continued work til 10 months short of retirement. Demolition, asbestos removal.

If work is affecting you condition then consider you options, part time or call it a day.

My husband does work full time is s sedentary job with lots of stress. Usually he is ok though had to have time off when we both got flu in January. Good luck TAD xxx

I have very severe emphysema. Fev of about 18% at the moment. I work outside in all weathers, winter and summer and love it. Some of it is physical as in a bit of walking but I can rest in beween. I do evening shifts 4 times a week.

I'm lucky :)

Hi, I chronic copd & asthma, was diagnosed 10 years ago, was told by my specialist to stop working 2 years ago but plodded on for another year. Didn't want to stop work but had to call it a day last august as my health was getting worse plus was having a lot of pain with osteoarthritis. Your health comes first so if you feel fit enough to carry on working do so, maybe part time, if not put your feet up, you deserve it. You will find lots of advice here to help make your mind up ! Tina.

Thank you all for your replies.

I suppose it is a dilemma We all face at some time.

The problem I have is that I work as security in a slate quarry and a paper tissue factory so am worried about the dust.

I have chronic bronchitis. Not severe re PFTs. Still feel I off a lot. I have three children under 8 and a massive mortgage. Can't stop anytime soon.

Re the air quality at work is there a health and safety person there that can commission an air quality study. If it's bad for you it's the same for everyone else.

Not what you're looking for?
