Hi all could anybody tell me do I have to go threw all that bother of filling the same p.i.p forms in as when I first claimed P.I.P . My health has deteriated and I'm now on oxygen among other things that's what I need them to reconsider. I was in terrible mess with the claim forms, don't know what I will do if it's the same again, as we have no help in our area. Please let me know thanks

Hi

What you will be doing is ineffective is a new claim, which could go up or down.

Have a word with the BLF Benefits Advisor.

Good luck with your new claim.

Hi Bertie, I re-appled whilst on DLA re the care component. They did not change the mobility but I did have to start from scratch with the care but I also ran the risk of the care component being taken away. Not sure, but imagine it would be similar with PIP. You really do need to speak to a benefits advisor - Welfare Rights, CAB or DIAL.

Wishing you the best of luck.

Hi this is your choice but you do run the risk of losing the benefits you already get. If you think it would make a big difference it could be worth it but I would think long and hard about it first. Also is it worth the stress and how close are you to your next assessment? x

I use ambulatory oxygen and was sent the PIP claim form which I filled in with the help of my husband. I asked for extra time so I could get some of the evidence/reference that they needed (I was on DLA in definitely, higher rate mobility and lower rate care.

An assessor came to my house to assess me and I was given the higher rate mobility and lower rate care for two years only and then I will have to reapply again.

I rang up to ask if they think I would die during the two years or have a miraculous healing. I was told that it was because my needs health wise could change and I could then be offered more for care and that the forms at the end of the two years won't be the same as the original it will be less forms to fill in.

You can get help with filling in the forms from your Welfare rights officer who are based at your local council (my welfare rights officer didn't help to fill forms anymore, I couldn't be bothered with the CAB so I got my husband to fill in the forms whilst I dictate to him the answers. Just be honest about how your illness affects you daily and whether you need help to do daily tasks. You are awarded points

Hope this is helpful.

Praying it will work out for you.
