Hello everyone. I've been lurking for a while and now have a question for you.
Has anyone found their blood sugar level going up when using a Trimbow inhaler? If yes, what if anything did you do about it?
Thanks for listening.

Trimbow contains a steroid, and steroids can elevate blood sugar eventually becoming Type 2 diabetic. There is obviously a lot less steroids in an inhaler than if you are taking oral steroid tablets like prednisolone but it can still be absorbed, especially if you have been taking it over a long period.
Personally and for context Ive been on another steroid inhaler (Symbicort) pretty solidly since 1986 I think. Ive also had a large number of chest infections requiring prednisolone since my 20s. Then total of four hospitalisations (one in Minorca!) where I had to have IV steroids. My blood sugar started going up in 2019, so you can see it took a fair bit of steroid exposure before I was affected. Im now prediabetic and trying to avoid progressing to what is known as steroid induced diabetes through altering my diet and upping my exercise regime.
This doesn't happen to everyone of course, as we are all different. However steroid use is definitely a risk factor for diabetes.
Hi, this is definitely a thing my mums prediaetic due to steroids, no lung issus3 more for inflammatory, myself on the other hand hand normal blood sugars no sign of even pre diabetes I've had asthma since 17 and I'm now almost 50,, every October to March I'm on and off prednisone and alternating antibiotics and now been on trimbow all of this year, which has helped alot, but prednisone use has been ALOT over the years since asthma, diagnosed with bronchiectasis 8 years ago, the only thing I've done is lost 5 stone over 2 years Gym 4 times a week and massively changed my diet and its all improved got my BP almost to perfect daily ( advised to check as I came of meds Jan doc at hospital advised it ) so BP down cholesterol was on higher end of normal sugars too ALL normal too, little changes I've made even against Gap advice re rhe gym I'm disabled with car accident and lots of spinal stuff fibro polymyalhia etc BUT I've got myself and my chest alot better and I know they say water helps lungs I do drink a bit more than I should this last year but its only improved my breathing and lungs. Hooe you guys can take something from this, ALSO stopped needing the use of home nebulizer too. Xxx
Hi, i have been on trimbow over 4 years, diabetic 12 years and can say it has had no effect on my blood sugar.😀
I’m not using Trimbow but know when I take steroids pills, even for short periods it bumps up my blood sugar into the diabetic range but after I have been off of them for awhile they drop back into the prediabetic range.
Thank you for your thoughts on this.
