Normal HRCT scan.....

After a very anxious, longest weekend in the history of the world, Absolutely incredible news that I have no indication of lung disease or anything else sinister on the CT scan. Very very relieved as I was very concerned about IPF.

I was absolutely convinced I was going to have a serious problem as still experiencing many symptoms and struggling with the breathlessness.

The most concerning is the vibrating/crackling/bubbling chest when laying down and taking a deep breath. It’s so loud....but with a clear CT I am going to presume it’s the after effect of pneumonia (or giving up smoking) as is the cough and sob/tight chest and wait it out with the help of many inhalers. Hopefully it resolves very soon as still feeling pretty awful.

Thank you all so much for your support.....it’s much appreciated 😊

Yay, that must feel such a relief! Now you can make your move feeling more peaceful! I hope the problems you are having though will get sorted soon! It’s really annoying when you know you don’t feel right but a test is inconclusive, although in this instance a great relief. Does your GP have any idea what it could be?Wishing you well, for your health and your move!

Dee 😊

Hi Jen, I'm delighted, such a relief for you. Maybe when things settle down, you could ask your GP if a session of breathing exercises (via the Respiratory Clinic) could help improve your condition. It was arranged for me via Zoom and the nurse demonstrated the breathing techniques which helped. I also bought a facial steamer; I used it to inhale steam and which helped to clear my airways. All the best in your recovery and move. A good dose of sunshine from sunnier climes will be the best health tonic for you!

That is good news. Very pleased for you.

Great news that the CT scan shows nothing sinister. Hoping you get the right treatment now to live a more normal life.

Good news Jen, you can now start your new life without worry. It takes time to get over pneumonia and for your body to acclimatize to the lack of nicotine and what better place than Portugal to get your lungs better. Wish you all the best. Irene x

I am so glad to hear that your CT results are good! Hooray!I really hope your lungs clear soon and you can stop worrying. Meanwhile, it would probably be a good thing to keep doing the lung clearance exercises to help shift the phlegm along and maybe get rid of some of those annoying night time noises.

I hope things soon improve and you can then get on with enjoying life again. xx Moy

Ahhh, that old frenemy, the waiting game. I have an HRCT scan on the 18th May then I have to wait until the 22nd of June for the follow up appointment to learn the results, via a phone call. I do not even get to see the scan with my own eyes anymore because of Covid. But, in a way that long wait is also reassuring, in that the Oncologist is probably not expecting any important changes. All the same, I cannot deny the 4 week wait for results will not be totally free of any anxiety.

This very good news for you as it rules out some of the possible causes of your breathing problems. Bringing you closer to finding an answer and hopefully treatment.

Great news Jen3675 ! If it helps there are demonstrations of breathing techniques on youtube. I use pursed lip breathing when short of breath or walking uphill . Also use deep diaphragm breathing to strengthen diaphragm and release tension or anxiety. P x
