PET SCAN

Good Morning Everyone. John’s last visit to his consultant a couple of weeks ago resulted him being referred for a PET Scan at Granada Hospital which is a good 3 hours drive from us. He was concerned that John had lost weight (I thought this always happened with a lung disease). He has an appointment tomorrow at 5.30. Granada hospital is predominantly a cancer and lung hospital, so I am just hoping that it is his lungs they are concentrating on and not that they think he has cancer. Keep your fingers crossed for us. Hope you are all breathing better and keeping safe. Carole

One must keep focused. Of course you are worried but you have to be strong for your husband. My thoughts are with you and I hope your next post will have good news. Take care and keep safe.

Thank you Carolina, I was very worried also how we were going to get there. John is not so confident driving a long distance like he used to be and I am also not keen on driving out of my comfort zone (I think it is an age thing) but fortunately our translater is driving us there. Hope you are getting stronger every day also. Lots of love ❤️

I Remember many Years ago,(20) We drove to Granada for a weekend Honey Moon, or any excuse to go there. We hadn't a clue where to go re Hotels, The very kind Motor Bike Security Man next to us at the traffic Lights, after I asked him," Coneces un Buen Hotel pero Barato", Siga mi dices el, so we follow him to a lovely Hotel with free Parking. We Walked & wandered all over the City, The Palace is a must, So Romantic and Alive, Bought all sorts. Had a Fantastic Time. I know this is not for you Right Now.

Just thought I'd lift your Spirits Carole & John, Remember to go Back there under Different Circumstances, Take it all in. Muchos Besos XXXX

All it takes is for a consultant to have a suspicion and a PET scan can usually either confirm or deny that suspicion. My own recent PET scan was based on a suspicion. Fingers crossed for John, that they do not find any cancer. Here, in the UK, all my PET scans have been a whole body scan, from the head to the hips, inclusive.

Hello 2greys Thanks for your reply. After having been told that all his tests were OK, blood test, CT scan and sputum (still awaiting a heart appointment) I translated the consultant’s findings and it states John has signs of cystic-appearing lesion in the left liver lobel size 18.5 x 14.3 mm. Is this cancer? Carole x

Obviously you will have to wait for his scan result, all I can say is that it sounds suspicious. I hope that it is confirmed as no cancer detected. A lesion can just as easily have occurred by a past, recovered infection. Very often precursor markers are present in a blood sample so that part is potentially good news in itself. I feel for both of you, it is such a scary time, with the uncertainty and having to wait.

All the best for you both today. Hope the PET scan clearly shows the cause and the result is the one you hope for, not the one you fear.

Hello Carole, 😊👋

It's lovely to see a picture of you two. 😊 I would not worry too much about the hospital being a cancer and lung hospital. Obviously they are the ones who have the high level testing machinery like a PET scan. So that's probably why you are being sent there. Please do let us know how things go. I think of you both and Rosie often. Sending love and hugs.
