Emphysema Chesty Cough

Anyone csn share experiences with their emphysema? My father has stage 3 lung cancer and finished his 6 cycle chemo. The thing is he also has emphysema. He does not want to go to the hopital yet because he wants to observe himself firtst. This is the firsttime he is showing synptoms of his COPD. He is taking antitussive meds , n-acethycesteine, berodual inhaler and later he will start Ultibro breezehaler. Can he be alright again? Thanks and everybody i wish good health. Thank you.

Hi red sox! Thanks for your response. He was diagnosed a year ago followed by the lung cancer. The doctor did not mention a stage of his emphysema and this is the 1st time he showed symptoms. Thanks

Hi, sorry your dad has lung problems. You ask if he can be alright again, I don't know the meds he's on, I use different ones. Unfortunately emphysema does not go away once you have it you can only manage it. This can be done but he must also accept that his activities will be restricted, stairs, gadients & hills etc are no go areas without some form of preparation and this applies to a number of mundane tasks that he takes for granted.

Thanks i really hope he can at least walk normally again. We are now at the emergency room, the doctor said he will be given antibiotics too. He was nebulised 3x and was given hydrocortizone shot. We are waiting for a room now.
