I'm new to this site. Having a needle biopsy of right upper lung lobe in a few days. Is it painful and what is the recovery like?

Welcome dunnellon
I can't really advise you on that particular procedure, I expect you have been sent information on the procedure and recovery, perhaps read that again or check out NHS site regarding this.
The last time I had a biopsy I was given a local anesthetic makes an incision, feeds a camera in a tube (its tiny) then goes in with another instrument and takes a sample and clamps the tissue where the biopsy was taken, removes camera and other instrument and then applies dressing to the incision area etc. I didn't feel a thing during the procedure, didn't really feel much after either. I watched the entire procedure on the tv screen its all magnified of course but in actuality all very tiny, I would say the tube insert is not much bigger than sewing cotton.
Perhaps for the lung biopsy you have a full anesthetic but it should tell you this in the letter from the hospital.
Thanks for your reply. Doc gave me no paperwork. Hospital calls with instructions the day before. I'm quite nervous.
Good luck with the biopsy. Hope it gives you the answers you need.
