Hello Dion3844o1 .
I know very well the apprehension that comes with waiting for these tests. They will probably give you a sedative. So you won't be totally aware. Try not to look it up on the internet. I've done that and ended up so anxious it did more harm than good.
I hope they will have answers for you soon, so you can get the best treatment for you. Please do keep us updated.
Sending very best wishes.

Hi Dion
Glad you finally got a date though I can understand how frustrating it is to have to wait.
You shouldnโt have to stay in hospital afterwards unless the Consultant said otherwise so make sure you are not alone and have someone to drive you home. If it is video-assisted you will be sedated, best thing!!
Donโt worry about the after effects, you will just be a bit tired with the anesthetiics for a couple of days and have a sore throat.
Do rest when you get home and get some throat pastilles and honey ready. Maybe fresh drinks, even ice-cream for a treat!!! Feet up and Plenty of fluids.
Take good care and let us know how you are getting on.

Hi I am under Leeds as well but for emphysema. I have had a camera inserted many times for valves implanting and a general look and have not had any problems or pain, only a slightly dry feeling throat which is put right with plenty of water.
The health team at Leeds are lovely people who will look after you well and answer any questions you may have when you are admitted. In the meantime may I suggest contacting your gp if you have any concerns.
Good luck
Another Leeds Loiner here Dion. As Ratatoullie says they are a good team. Which hospital will you be having this procedure done? I think the waiting for tests are worse sometimes than having them done. Your mind goes in overdrivee but once there you just seem to go with it. I hope and believe it will go smoothly for you and you will have some answers.
Best wishes

I've had a biopsy you'll do fine for me they took a sample and i was in and out in about 5 hours but basically the procedure last about 10 minutes the rest is sleeping it off
hi thankyou all for replying so much easier when you no your not alone and other people actually understand wishing you and your familys a happy new year and all the best for the future take care x
Hi Dion - You have had loads of replies - I had a biopsy in St James Hospital, Leeds in 2015 - terrified (I did the internet thing too) but, honestly, I woke up hungry and thirsty! And very relieved it was over!
that do me just fine I think the part that scares me most is the drain I hear they put in ๐did you stay in hospital x
Hi I had a vats biopsy in November 2016 in Birmingham. Overnight stay and general anaesthetic. They did put a drain in, and I have to be honest that was the worst part, while it was in place it was pretty uncomfortable but once it's taken out I felt much better. It's not the nicest of things to go through to be honest but without it I would have been even longer (took 18 months to get to that point) in getting a conclusive diagnosis. ( I have ipf) . February will soon be here and it will all be behind you and hopefully get the treatment you need .
Best wishes, lynne
thankyou for replying I'm not looking forward to it at all but its got to be done maybe then I can start getting my life back this has been the worst 2 yrs ever but ya no the saying the only way is up thankyou again take care x
I had a lung biopsy in May 2017, it really is painless and nothing to get upset about. I did not gag at all which surprised me tremendously. I even joked with the team afterwards that I can tick that experience off my bucket list, not that I am going anywhere soon. Love and Peace
