Duretic water tablets
Water tablets are excellent at getting rid of puffy ankles. This is very important because it can continue to accumulate throughout your system. They can slightly reduce your blood pressure and it seems like an anomaly but you need to make sure you still have a good fluid intake or you can become dehydrated.
I take indapamide every morning for raised blood pressure. It has reduced the number of times I get up to go to the toilet in the middle of the night, from 6 to 3, so a great improvement. Still have a little swelling in the ankles over the day, but that resolves after a night's sleep.
I can't tolerate any other hypertension tablets, so I've had to lose weight and get more active to control my blood pressure, and that has helped with the ankle swelling too. My weight is now about 62.5 kg, 22.5 BMI.
Thank you for reply I am trying not to take blood pressure tablets I have swollen ankles doc came around and first thing he said was don't worry that the amodiline blood pressure tablet we gave u causing that really is said but I don't think so I'm not taking them yet he told me just to elevate my ankles didn't seemed that bothered they were swollen it's been several weeks still swollen spoke to nurse who said try low dose water tablets if u get on with them u can always come off unlike blood pressure tablets any ideas anyone
Yes I take water tablets one every morning so your sleep is not disturbed and try at some point to sit with your legs elevated that will also help keep ankle size down
Thank you ill be honest I get so worried taking tablets as I'm scared stiff of side effects and I'm not feeling that we'll at the moment so anxiety kicking in
Never had a problem with my water tablet certainly no side effects at all so you should be fine.
Just got tablets dropped off I'm staring at the packet deciding if I take it bloody side effects scareing me I'm short of breath now why can't we have Meds that just do the damm job and not if u get any of these side effects grrrr I just want something that will stop my ankles from swelling and my breathing to get better without frightening the living daylights and it says some Meds u already take could interfere with these Meds medication for breathing problems corticosteroids which im on and calcium so got to wait for nurse to tell me that's fine don't worry I was told that about amilodipine it interacts with my antibiotic I take one min he said no u can't take that with it then it was OK too I know I'm a nightmare but has anyone had dizziness feeling sick being sick or anything else with in dopamine tablets
I, like you, have been looking at my packet of water tablets, debating with myself whether to take them! The possible side effects were putting me off. However, my ankles, despite everything I’ve tried, have continued to swell. I relented and started the tablets 5 days ago, apart from mild constipation, I think I need to drink more to regulate this, I haven’t had any other noticeable side effects. And you can always stop taking them, that’s what I understand anyway. If your still worried, you could phone your pharmacist, they will advise re meds your already taking along with water tabs.
Thank you I know I'm being silly but I haven't got the best repore with my doctors surgery apparently I should just take the tablets and not to hear from me I recently went in hospital with dizziness no way I want that again I can't afford to be sick with my breathing not good I wish I could just pop it in my mouth but I'm shielding meaning I'm on my own here I'm a 1hr away from the hospital if anything did kick off I'm trying so desperately to not take into know my damm ankles not coming down my left leg is uncomfortable and warm both ankles swelling tummy bigger too maybe if I haven't stopped smoking I'd be calmer 😣
Aw bless you, your not being silly. These are worrying times. I’m shielding also but, unlike you, I have my family with me, at a distance of course! Ring your pharmacy, the pharmacist will be able to answer your questions regarding meds your already taking and these water tablets. Good for you, giving up smoking. Try vaping, I gave up smoking fairly recently, the day I had my hip replacement. I now vape, it really helps, gives my hand something to do. I use a nicotine vape, eases the craving hugely. My consultant and respiratory nurse and doctor all recommended vaping, wish I’d done it earlier! Feeling stressed and worrying will increase breathlessness, as you know. Take care and stay safe.
Never taken Indopamine I take bendrofluazone water tablets which also help with my blood pressure just one each morning and never had a problem.
Maybe I should swap mine then
