peak flow meter

I have Hypothyroidism and am heat intolerant so am prone to a high temperature but my reason for posting is my breathing, Ive had trouble on and off for years but for the past 5 or 6 weeks Ive had mucus in my throat and feel like Im breathing through a straw,My GP told me by phone yesterday, It could be Bronchitis:but he said without a face to face examination he could not be sure ,he has prescribed a blue inhaler in case its asthma and something for the mucus and ring again if it not better,, the inhaler worked wonders, within 20 mins I could breath not 100% better but a big improvement, Im puzzled I used the peak flow meter and get a reading of 600 which is what it should be, but still I have trouble breathing.

Thanks in advance

Frank

Oh I would be on top of the World my peak flow is usually 150. It can be very scary and make you anxious when hard to breathe. Your Doctor most probably can give you a preventative puffer as well. Take care and stay in contact with your G.P.

Hi

Thanks for your reply, is it possible to be asthmatic and still have a normal peak flow reading, I googled this question and found people like me but no answers.

I think it is best to have a chat with your Doctor about repeated breathing issues. They are the best to help you and settle your concerns. There are many different medications that can help you....they know best. Good luck 🙂

Hi I have asthma and my peak flow sits between 550 and 600. Iv had asthma since age 1 back in 1985. I sound ancient but I'm o ly 35 haha. I'm on a number of different inhalers also. When doing a lung function test I scored <21 as my lung age at work. I guess you can have a normal values and still have asthma.
