I had a flare up of asthma today, no idea what's caused it. Felt quite wheezy and tight-chested earlier. Managed to get an emergency appointment with a nurse I'd never seen before who didn't seem that bothered. Sure enough, my peak flow is normal (560) and my oxygen was 98%. No wheeziness according to her. She said it could be "up here" pointing to her throat.
This isn't the first time when I've had a flare up and everything looks fine and it's been mentioned to me before I may have vocal chord dysfunction. However had laryngscopopy a few times and no sign of it. Also had a bronchoscope at another hospital which didn't find it but did mention "upper airway inflammation" and everything else was fine apart from a "bit of bronchospasm" in the bottom of one of my lungs. I've had Methacholine challenge tests which have never show any real reversibility. The only time my PF/Oxygen dropped was when I had asthma attacks as a child.
So I am very confused and feeling like I don't know what's going on. I had Xolair which didn't do anything. My IgE has been about 90 in the past. Yet I suffer a lot in hot weather and pollen seasons.

I am having a similar experience. I have always said over the years I have been listened to by Dr nurses etc . I feel at a bit of a loss at the moment, which us making me really think before seeking medical help/ support. It does not help that I have just found out due to specialist nurses leaving our GP practice the respiratory review system has been suspended. Probably the worst time of year for people with breathing difficulties.
