Appointment today with consultant. He was very thorough and said Geoff has bronchiectasis (not COPD) probably due to pneumonia two years ago. Physio lady showed him breathing and coughing exercises and he is to take carbocisteine tablets and hopefully this will reduce infections and he will be much better. Thanks to everyone for help and advice that got us to this appointment with right clinic etc. He has to have follow up appointment with physiotherapist in a month and will see consultant again in six months.

Tell Geoff he has now joined the bronchi group on the Forum. You will both want to find out more about this lung disease I'm sure. I was shocked when I had my diagnosis as I hadnt heard of it before then.

I am attending a 6 week Pulmonary Rehabilitation Course at the moment. It is purely for bronchiectasis sufferers. I can highly recommend that Geoff ask about attending one. The first hour is taking part in appropriate exercises with and without machines snd with well informed friendly staff. The second part is educational and covers all aspects of bronchiectasis to help us maintain a healthy life.

If you need any information on this disease you will find help and support here on this knowledgeable and friendly forum.

Thanks for keeping us posted on Geoff I hope you will continue to keep in touch.

Regards and best wishes, Chrys

Thanks Chrys. I'll tell Geoff to ask the physiotherapist about it when he goes in a month - sounds as if it could help him.
