I had a scary bad chest infection just before Christmas and started my emergency pack of antibiotics and Prednisolone 5mg tablets that I finished after 7 days

I still feel a bit tired with no energy and a bit light headed But I cannot believe how good my chest and breathing feels at the moment since Christmas day has if there is nothing wrong with me with this COPD because since Christmas day I have had no wheezing or been breathless also I have not had to use any of my Ventolin inhaler once

I have been so used to wheezing now this last 3 years I just live with it.. and not to have it the last 5 days maybe because of the prednisolone steroid tablets is amazing

So this must be the Prednisolone steroid tablets still working on me after 5 days of finishing taking them.

Also that must be the reason why they wont do my yearly breathing lung function test that I was due to have next week until 6 weeks time, has would not give the right readings of my lung test.

Anyway just glad I am feeling better and had a emergency pack of antibiotics and prednisolone at the time of my flare up and I know my slight breathing and evening bed time wheezing will come back but just glad they worked for me at the time...well at the moment anyway.

Happy new year everyone

and roll on the warmer weather

Best wishes

Ok I know this may be a stupid question but have you told your gp about your night time wheezing because I'm aware night time wheezing MAY be a symptom of asthma. I rarely get a wheeze even during an infection. Glad your feeling better

Hi Mandy

I did wonder myself if I had asthma because of my wheezing but gp said that I have been checked for that and it is COPD.

Also think that with some people that have COPD wheezing is part of it

Thanks

Hi Music, so glad to hear that you feel better, could it be that you have had an underlying infection all this time and the antibiotics and steroids cleared this up, if this comes back go get checked out. Hope the new year is good to you x

Music, yeah you must be clear of any chest infection for 4 clear wks before they do the test prednisone clears the airways but sometimes give a false sense of security feeling good then the next day or so you’re back to square one with your breathing but I hope you stay clear good luck 😉

I know that wonderful feeling like you've never been sick after taking pred. I've been on pred since 2012. Except for exacerbations, I usually didn't feel sick. Now it doesn't work so well anymore, and I'm coughing a lot again. Because of side effects (blood clots ) my doc wont increase dosage. Pred is a double edged sword.

Thank so much for info floridarose

Think this was my first or second time I have took pred with antibiotics and still feel ok and have not had to use my Ventolin for 2 weeks now

But have just been put on a new inhaler has well... incruse ellipta55..So not sure yet if feeling ok because of Preds still working on me after 3 weeks or feeling good because of new inhaler I have started to use

Time will tell but you don't seem to have one to bad if been using pred since 2012

BEST WISHES AND THANKS
