Hi everyone ,had my Petscan results back .It is showing my nodule is "hot" which means 99% sure it is cancer .Brompton phoned me on Friday afternoon , next course of action is a lung biopsy 😨 . Only trouble is I have to go to the Brompton and it's costing me a fortune (£50) a time as I live 80 miles away .It cost me £100 last week for two appts. I shouldn't moan about the money as I'm getting the best treatment but what if I couldn't afford it . Hope you are all well .
Love Babs ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Morning Babs, hope your trip goes well, I remember when ambulance where available to pick us up for appts, but at least your going to the best hospital, just miles away lol. Take care.jane
Oh Babs. Am so sorry. I hope it is in the very early stages and it can be removed quickly and efficiently. *HUG* And yes, train fare in the U.K. is so much more expensive compared to Japan. I was pretty shocked. 😲
Morning Babs, So Sorry to hear this. Do you not have a NHS Ambulance Service, as we do here ? Arriva is a Patient Collect Service, I used this all the time I was going to my Transplant Hospital every 3 months. My Sister in law has a Lung Biopsy Tomorrow in Spain, she is not coping, but like you I am sure she will get the best Treatment. My Consultant is on Holiday, so no results for my CT Scan from over a week ago. Babs, My valves are no longer working and I am struggling . on Oxygen 24/7, Bloody Lung Diseases, Dam COPD. OOPS, I am going to Drown myself in Vino Rosado to Cheer myself up. Here Babs, have one from Me. Cheers Hun, Thinking of you at this awful Stressed Time. Love n gentle Hugs. Carolina xxxxx
Oh Carolina I'm so sorry you are struggling .God damn it when everything works it's great but when it doesn't the shit really hits the fan .Thank you for your good wishes .I gave up drink 22 years ago , at the moment I wish I hadn't 😄 .You take care and I hope they can sort you out soon .
Babs, We are of a Generation of "Stamina" & stiff upper Lip, but sometimes we Break Down. I will salute you with a Fresh Orange juice then. Love n gentle Hugs XXXX
Carolina it sucks you still didn’t get your results and now your doctors on holiday?! How long could it have taken to contact you with the results. My mum went to the hospital to see a consultant months ago, she’s still waiting for the results, and at the time she was told she’d need to start some medication, she can’t remember the name but it made her think of quinine, she hasn’t got that either, maybe it’ll come at the same time as her results.
Sorry Babs I should have replied to you first. I’m sorry to know things are so horrible just now. Sending you lots of love and best wishes 💐
Babs, you are one very brave and positive lady and that will serve you well whilst you go through these tests and any future procedures i am sure and always remember we will be here to support you all the way on that journey.
You should be able to claim back any transport costs from the Nhs as long as you obtain receipts for them as you are going for planned medical treatment under the Nhs.a scheme exists and you just need ask for the paperwork to claim under it.
Please try not to worry, although it is bad news there is still a lot of hope, I don't know if you read my post 5 days ago so I will give you the link anyway:
Depending on just where the tumour is located. it is possible that you may not be able to have a biopsy without causing damage to your lung as was the case with me and a radiological diagnosis is all they can go on. If there is anything that I can help with, then do not hesitate to ask, remember that I work 5 days a week so may not reply until early in the mornings or the evenings.
Thank you so much , you are always so knowledgeable and helpful , I truly appreciate it . I know they can remove the lower lobe ( where mine is ) but as I've already had the top lobe removed I don't know if that will be possible .We shall see what they say after the biopsy .Many thanks I'm now going to click on your link and hopefully learn something . I unfortunately Google and it's not always good !!!! Take care and many more thanks again
Hi Babs, do not worry about already having had a top lobe removed. I failed the surgical fitness test and unable to have surgery without taking a huge risk of mortality or ending up wheelchair bound and on o2 24/7. Instead I received SABR, a form of radiation therapy, a year ago, so far so good and hopefully cured. The research that I have done says that SABR is just as effective, if not better, than surgery is, so no worries about that. The treatment was non-invasive and totally pain free, I had very little in the way of side effects and was able to work whilst having the treatment and afterwards too. I just had some inflammation that was sorted with prednisolone, admittedly it took 3 courses, but that was all.
Thank you 2greys I appreciate you getting back to me so quickly .I'm glad you got sorted out eventually and hope you have continued good health . We must keep fighting 👍👍👍🤞🤞🤞
So sorry to hear what you are going through but you seem very positive which helps. Such good advice given I hope you sort out your transport costs. Good luck and let us know how you get on with your claim xxx
Are you on benefits sure you can get help with costs. We were on HC2 low income scheme and it was on there check with your surgery or your main hospital they may know
I hope that they will be able to remove your nodule during the lung biopsy.you need to ask about availability of out patient transport. Hope all goes smoothly.
