Hi Hun, Seems to have been a Long time to get to this Stage, So Very Pleased for your Mum, I remember That feeling, and the Date I was told I was on The List. Wishing you Both well and Hopefully Your Mum is not waiting too long. Love n Hugs to you Both. XXXXX
Best wishes to you and your Mum Queenbean. My husband is 3 months post single lung transplant and doing pretty well. I would suggest your Mum has her bags packed as an early (4am in our case) call is common. We made a checklist in preparation for the 'call' and just ticked all things off before leaving the house. You will have been given advice by the hospital about being prepared but I would emphasise: have all necessary things in place at home like who feeds any pets; who keeps an eye over things at home; who will be keeping friends and family advised of progress. This can become a full time job so make sure you can delegate to one person for friends, and one for family members, with all the relevant telephone numbers. Think about how you will travel to the centre if you don't go in the ambulance and.....be prepared for false alarms. We treated the first call as a practice run, not expecting success but so that we knew the drill. Very unusually my husband ended up getting his lung first time.
We wish you all luck for a successful outcome Queenbean xx
Hi good luck. I was on the transplant list 18 months with one false call. Don.t despair it's a waiting game just keep yourself as fit as possible. I had my transplant 5 years ago and now lead a wonderful life so I understand what u R going thro and if U ever want to chat I will always be here for u.
Best of luck. I'm waiting for the latest biopsy of my urinary bladder lining to say I'm free of cancer. Then it's two years of being clear from cancer before they will even consider putting me on the donor waiting list.
