Endoscopy and colonoscopy

Alan is going in for both of these procedures tomorrow. Anyone had these done together. They are looking for internal bleeding due to anemia showing up in bloods. I am more worried than he appears. Regards

I had the same and ultimately had to have my colon removed.

It is relatively easy to take care of my stoma.

It may not be that an operation be required, I was late stage and had an emergency operation.

Now on Iron tablets and every thing is fine.

So don`t worry too much things do get better.

I’ve had both together on a couple of occasions. I think a lot depends on the operator doing the tests. With the first I didn’t have/need any sedation, only the lidnacaine spray. With the second I had entinox.

Usually you would have the endoscopy and then reversed whilst on the same bed and the colonoscopy would be done.

They may offer Alan sedation. They were reluctant with me but did say they would revert to it if necessary.

I hope all turns out well and if there is anything untoward they can sort it out at the same time.

Good luck

Cx

I empathise. Sometimes my IBS is very similar to having cleanprep.

This time tomorrow it will be all done and dusted.

I pray everything goes easily for your husband. I have had them separately and truly there is nothing to worry about, if they give him sedation it only lasts a short time and just “ takes the edge off “ so you are not aware of what is happening.

It is hard to watch a loved one having to go through stuff like that. But it will all be fine you can be sure. Try not to worry. 😊

I have been through both already and it is not so bad. If they are looking for something they will find it if it’s there and advise you how to take care of it. It is better to know then suffer all the time not knowing and worrying.

They were able to find my issues and corrected them I had three palimpsest and found I had GERDS which is under control. The palimpsest were negative for cancer but was removed because my mother had palimpsest that bleed causing her to have three different blood transfusions.

Have had both done at the same time 4 times, all while completely sedated. The last time I was on 24/7 oxygen. Absolutely no problems. All Best Wishes, judg69
