Hi mrsmuumy think it's criminal really WAY everyone been poisoned AND government are not concerned.
But why would they be when WE are just resource
I remember being asked about it in the 90s when I had a procedure. It was much more of a risk then because cjd had taken them surprise. However, even then the numbers were tiny and today they are microscopic. The article is very contradictory. I guess that in this age of litigation and given that people will question and panic having read such things they are asking to cover their backs. I have had four endoscopies and I was more worried about being damaged by the endoscope and what they might find than getting cjd. Mind you, some people do say that I am a bit mad ..........so?

Hi clearly if stuff had been done in 90's am sure would not be eperdemic now.
This consensus that dememta alz is derivative of mad cow stuff BUT as no one was intrested things got out of hand.
Was reading and this been quite a few cases of cjd from hospitals re slopy hygiene.
i would have to side with Littlepom's view and say that there is far more likelihood of suffering complications from the endoscopy procedure than of complication from infected instruments.i for one would gladly accept my o positive transfusion and risk the microscopic chance of catching cjd as opposed to bleeding out in an emergency.........................skis and an unconcerned cat
Am not talking about operations as only risk HAVE read loads storys kids babies with cjd and two unrelated lads in stocport who died of cjd and only thing had in common was both lived on same street.
NHS patients at risk of getting mad cow disease during surgery
That was the title of the link you provided,i assumed you were concerned about issues mentioned in the article.i don't think i will be wearing a mask anytime soon for protection even if an infected person lived in the same street.Anyway each to their own fears and concerns,
My husband is due for a Colonoscopy next week, at the pre op meeting last week he was asked if he was aware of CJD and the very small risk. It has been mentioned to him on previous occasions before having other surgical procedures.
