The jury is out for me but I ‘think’ I was better off before I changed to Trimbow. My only rationale for saying this is that my last exacerbation 4-5 weeks ago absolutely knocked me for six. I realise that may just be coincidence though.
Good plan! I was going to leave it until a couple of exacerbations further down the road but I think you’re right. Doesn’t hurt for them to make a note of these things 😊
You need to be proactive Brian - always let them know how you're doing and keep a record yourself. We know from Dumpton's post that things can go wrong, usually though due to overwork and underfunding. I always try to be the keeper of my own records, tests and everything else.
Each metered dose (the dose leaving the valve) contains 100 micrograms of beclometasone dipropionate, 6 micrograms of formoterol fumarate dihydrate and 10 micrograms of glycopyrronium (as 12.5 micrograms glycopyrronium bromide).
The drugs in it are totally different to what you are used to. I found the broncodialator in it worked very quickly. I was amazed. But, the effect did not last long enough. It also increased my heart rate quite badly, leaving me shaking all day and short of breath. My o2 levels were higher though. It also made me feel sick. So, it either suits you or it doesn't. I tried it for 10 weeks and asked to come off it. I was on seretide 500 and braltus. Hope that helps
There are a number of people who have Spiriva Respimat and Seretide, the same as me. What does one do that the other one doesn’t? As far as I know, Spiriva doesn’t contain a steroid component but according to the leaflet it can cause oral thrush. I thought only steroids do that. Yes I actually read the leaflet! After my experience with Fostair, which I could have avoided or at least minimised had I read the leaflet, I decided to read the list of side effects if I had something that continued for more than a few days. Unfortunately I haven’t got the Seretide leaflet. For some time I’ve been having various issues, so for 3 days I haven’t taken the Seretide, thinking the Spiriva is the lesser of two evils, but now I’m not sure. But it is affecting my breathing, not taking Seretide I mean. Also, I wondered if having the two inhalers (plus Ventolin) can combine to create other side effects not necessarily caused by one of the inhalers on its own. Probably not, because Trimbow is pretty much a combination of all these inhalers and I guess they wouldn’t do that if it created a whole new range of side effects (or maybe that’s just naive?) Sorry for so many questions!
