Biopsy pain

My daughter had a lung biopsy 9 days ago to investigate pleural thickening. She is now in constant pain, particularly in the middle of her chest with what she describes as shooting pains. Is this normal? She’s taking nurofen, but finds stronger medication causes nausea.

Hi Worriedmum22, I had a lung biopsy back in 2015, I suffered from pain for a good few months after. I was told this was normal and the pain may feel like someone is stabbing you in the chest. The pain gradually went, I found I could ease it at night by cuddling a pillow to my chest.

Hi I had two lung biopsys one was fine but second caused some pain and bit of blood but all well after a short time hope your daughter is the same and I've no medical experience whatsoever but I thought us chesty people should avoid Nurofen but not sure..regards Ger

Absolutely no rambling there NOSMO..we are so alike I've had two lung biopsys bit of damage but nothing nasty apart from reduced airflow due to scare tissue and asbestos..now my back story is probably different from yours so please don't worry going for yours, about 10years ago my Dr sent me for a scan of my back results showed 3 vertebrae cracked..5 vertebrae compound fracture budget in spine and curvature in spine and osteoporosis drs think caused by overuse or steroids over the years.I'm not having any problems with back though cautious of steroids even though I'm on a 3 month course at the moment but it is what it is and again please don't let my story scare anyone cos we're all different NOSMO, Best wishes Ger
