Bed sores anyone. Does anyone know how to get rid of the bedsores. Using barrier cream, and have tried manuka honey. Not budging, the sore seems to be getting bigger. Would like see it heal. Xx many thanks.

Hi Messyschool,

I would recommend seeing your doctor/nurse for bed sores. Treating them yourself is okay under medical supervision. However complete DIY is a bit risky. There are so many things to consider. The cause, would a change of position, pillows/cushions/mattress help prevent their worsening? How big/deep they are requires different dressings. Is there any sign of infection? Depending where they are on your body can you see/reach them to give them adequate care?

Wishing you all the best xx

You need to see your Gp to be referred to the community ulcer nurses, or as someone else says regular district nurse visits. Some places like where I live have community clinics for this sole pupose usually once a week. Gp is best for this advice or surgery practice nurse. If bed sores they need dressings if not healing and you may need to see a skin specialist even. Hope this helps you decide to seek help.

Thank you katiesoxo60. We do have the district nurses come in once a week, so they can have their eye to the sore. Xx

Hello Messyschool66 .

My nan had bed sores, and my dad. He was diabetic and the sores did not heal easily. Everyone is right in saying you need help from your doctor and supervision from a nurse , probably.

I know how uncomfortable this must be for you. I really hope you get some relief soon. I

Sending warm wishes,

Cas xx 🌞🐞
